Everyday Aesthetics: Kazantzakis’ Japan, New York College

The speech about ‘Everyday Aesthetics: Kazantzakis’ Japan‘ took place in 17/3/2019, at the 1st Japan Festival. It focused on the subject of everyday aesthetics in Japan, based on the theories of contemporary Japanese philosophers, such as Yuriko Saito, with plenty of examples and photos. It also contained examples from the book ‘Traveling to Japan – China’. Nikos Kazantzakis is the author of this historical-literary work; in fact, he wrote most or if part, after his relative trip to those countries, in 1935.

The 1st Japan Festival took place in New York College, Athens, Greece, The countless lovers of Japanese culture waited patiently for the event. It seems that the theme was enough to attract the interest of so many people, who made a short trip to the distant Land of the Rising Sun. My speech had to do with Aesthetics of Japan, inspired by the traditions and habits of the previous century,
